Gael Roots Community Farm is entering its 4th year of operations, creating connections to food through place with agricultural education, food access initiatives, and fiber arts programs. Will you help us and our community continue to grow in 2026?

2025 has been a hard year for farmers and food access, but with your help, our programs and projects are making an impact in our community.

In 2026 we will continue planting seeds to…

  • Expand our growing capacity for food access with infrastructure improvements, including a new pond (for field drainage and crop irrigation), a larger growing area, and deer proof fencing.

  • Increase our food access programming through our pay-what-you-can farmstand and Calliope & Gael Grocers free community food pantry.

  • Offer community & family programming such as farm day, workshops on raising sheep, farm work days, foraging for native plants, and more.

  • Grow our partnerships with farmers and organizations in the community such as our local library and food pantries.

  • Continue developing our relationship with Rockland Central School by expanding our capacity to grow vegetables for the school cafeteria, hosting agricultural education programming for students, and teaching classes on topics such as soil science, animal husbandry, ecology and fiber arts.

  • Provide a paid learning opportunity for high schools students with a paid Internship where they gain hands-on experience with farming, animal husbandry, food production, community building, and sustainability.

  • Build a Fiber Artist Community with workshops and social gatherings for sharing ideas and resources. A highlight of our Fiber Arts initiative is the annual application-based fiber arts residency which brings one fiber artist to our farm for an intensive residency, and culminates with a public artist talk at the Catskill Art Space in Livingston Manor.
