2026 CSA in Collaboration with Finca Seremos and 607 CSA!

A Sliding Scale Community CSA‍ ‍

Gael Roots Community Farm has partnered with Finca Seremos, the 607CSA and the Catskill Agrarian Alliance to offer a weekly market style CSA for pick up at Gael Roots’ Farm Stand on Wednesdays from 5-6pm, June 10th through November, 2026.

What is a Market Style CSA?

Unlike traditional CSA “boxes” that contain a pre-selected assortment of produce, a “Market Style” CSA is set up like a farmstand, and you are given a choice of what to select (with some parameters). This style CSA offers flexibility, can prevent waste (you only take home what you will eat), and empowers the members with options.

How Much does it cost?

There is a sliding scale, and a 50% discount for SNAP/EBT

Pick your CSA Share price from the options below

Contributor

You resonate with the description under “upper income”, and want to contribute to ensuring that more solidarity shares are made available to other community members with less earning power.

Upper Income

You own your home, have investments, retirement accounts, inherited money, travel recreationally, work part-time by choice, have access to family money and resources in times of need, and/or have a relatively high degree of earning power due to level of education (or gender and racial privilege, class background, etc.)

Lower Income

You are supporting children or have other dependents, have significant debt, have medical expenses not covered by insurance, have tuition or educational expenses, receive public assistance, have immigration related expenses, and/or are a senior citizen.

Market Value

The market value of our CSA is still a discount from the price of the same amount of organic produce at the farmer’s market. The cost is comparable to the same amount of produce at local grocery stores, but the quality will be better and some items and many varieties will be unique.

Solidarity Price

You resonate with the description under Lower Income, do not receive sufficient SNAP benefits, and are facing other significant financial challenges that put the $600 price point out of reach.

How do I sign up?

Sign up on Finca Seremos’ website. Select “Become a Member” and choose your pick up location as Gael Roots Farm. Please note that because of the Market Style CSA, only FULL SHARES are available. If a full share is too much for you, consider sharing it with friend or neighbor!

What if I can’t make it to Gael Roots Farm on Wednesdays between 5 and 6pm?

Finca Seremosis the first project of the Seremos Collectivo. The name Finca Seremos means “We-will-be Farms” in Spanish. It comes from the closing line of “Love Sonnet LXIX” by Pablo Neruda, a nod to the love that founders Chris and Brenda have for each other and their family, for stewarding the land, and for their communities in Inwood, Washington Heights, the Bronx and Sullivan County. The poem’s final line—“And through love I will be, you will be, we will be”—also frames the deep understanding of interdependency and mutual aid at the heart of Finca Seremos’ approach to farming. Finca Seremos seeks to bend our arc toward justice in three key components of farm operation: agroecological stewardship, community power, and cooperative labor.

The 607 CSA is a food sovereignty project based in the Northern Catskills of New York State. They are funded through their parent organization, Catskills Agrarian Alliance. The 607 CSA offers abundant and diverse veggie shares sourced from our four collaborating vegetable farms, plus season-long add-ons of pastured meat, eggs, dairy, and other items from 40+ neighboring farms and food businesses. In effect, they are a whole-diet CSA.
