We welcome Wes Gillingham and farmers from Beaverkill Nursery to our farm stand for an event all about apples!
Wes Gillingham from Wild Roots Farm, and staff from Beaverkill Nursery will be here during our weekly Farm Stand to talk all things apples. The Farm Stand will be open from 10am - 1:00pm, and Wes will talk and answer questions from 11am-12pm, and Beaverkill Nursery will be tabling with trees from 11am-12:30pm.
Wes has spent over 60 years planting, grafting, pruning, picking, and eating apples on Cattail Road. He’ll have a selection of apples from Gael Roots and Wild Roots farm available for tasting and discussing.
Beaverkill Nursery is a family business in Livingston Manor, NY, which specializes in native and edible perennial plants, native seeds, and locally adapted annual seeds. Some of the apple trees at Beaverkill Nursery came from scion wood at Wild Roots Farm. They are varieties that Wes originally bartered from John Bunker in Maine 30+ years ago. Beaverkill Nursery will have apple trees available for purchase, and is available to answer your apple growing questions.
Some of the heirloom, experimental, and other tree varieties available include: Black Oxford, King, Northern Spy, Erwin Bauer, Howgate Wonder, Burgundy, Brite Mac, Golden Lights, Honeycrisp, Benoni, Dudley Winter, NY 35, Golden Russet, Gilpen, and Beacon.
