We are a small farm planting seeds for social change and community abundance
What Is Gael Roots?
Gael Roots Community Farm is a nonprofit organization founded to protect an old 150 acre farm, and create a working farm for agricultural education and food access in our community. Our goals focus on agriculture education, quality food accessibility, and fostering connection to food. We are located between Livingston Manor and Youngsville NY on a beautiful south facing ridge. Gael Roots offers educational opportunities centered around land stewardship practices and farm sustainability through hands-on programming for community members of all ages—including internship and mentorship programs. At the core of the Gael Roots initiative is our commitment to Livingston Manor youth. We started working with the Livingston Manor Central School (LMCS) to have students on the farm on a regular basis, and we are preparing the land to grow vegetables directly for LMCS cafeteria and a “pay what you can” farm stand.
Black Mesa To Catskills Exchange
Learn more about our exchange program between Two Strikes Ranch located on Black Mesa located on the Navajo Reservation, and the Gael Roots Community Farm, located in the Catskill Mountains of NY. The program fosters food sovereignty and youth skill-building in two vastly different ecosystems.
Fiber Arts Residency
in 2023 and 2024 we hosted fiber artists on the farm for a FiberArts Residency.
