Introducing Gael Roots on Catskill Mountainkeeper’s “Magic in the Mountains” Podcast

Iris was interviewed on the local podcast Magic in the Mountains. Give it a listen to learn more about the founding of Gael Roots Community Farm.

In this episode, Taylor and Eugene are joined by Iris Fen Gillingham, a long-time friend and fellow farmer in the Catskills. The episode begins by Iris sharing a bit of her background, from being born in the Catskills on her family farm, Wild Roots Farm, to her work in climate activism and food justice over the past ten years. Iris then continues to share her vision for her latest project, Gael Roots Farm, a community farm in Livingston Manor that is centered in education, knowledge sharing, and a reciprocal relationship to the land and the surrounding community.

Through their conversation about the vision for Gael Roots, Eugene, Iris and Taylor discuss the ways that agriculture and community oriented solutions can help mitigate the climate crisis and restore our connections to nature, ourselves, and within our communities.
